Terms of Service
These Terms of Service describe how narrative development and editorial services are performed. They are designed for company story development, narrative content mapping, interview-to-story transformation, thematic content series development, and long-form refinement.
1. Scope of Editorial Services
Each project should identify the requested deliverable, source materials, target audience, expected length or format, number of interviews if any, revision allowance, estimated schedule, and intended final use. Services may include structural planning, drafting, rewriting, editorial organization, transitions, thematic development, or refinement, depending on the agreed scope.
2. Source Materials
Clients may provide interview recordings or transcripts, company notes, research, timelines, prior drafts, internal documents, background materials, and other project inputs. The client remains responsible for ensuring it has the right to provide and use those materials. We may rely on the accuracy and completeness of client-provided information unless separate verification services are agreed.
3. Narrative Mapping
Narrative maps, outlines, sequencing documents, editorial structures, and related planning materials are working tools. They are intended to organize the project and may change as additional source material or feedback is received.
4. Interview-Based Work
Interview-to-story work may involve selecting, condensing, reorganizing, and editing spoken material so that it functions in written form. Unless a verbatim transcript service is expressly requested, the final written piece may not reproduce every statement or preserve the exact order of the original conversation. Material is edited to serve the agreed narrative purpose while attempting to preserve meaning and voice.
5. Drafting and Review
Drafts are provided for review according to the project schedule. Clients should submit clear, consolidated feedback. Conflicting feedback from multiple stakeholders may require the client to appoint one decision-maker or provide a single consolidated direction.
6. Revisions and Change of Scope
Included revisions are limited to the agreed scope. A request may constitute new work if it changes the target audience, overall concept, deliverable type, source base, length, or previously approved direction. New interviews or major batches of source material submitted after drafting has begun may also affect price and schedule.
7. Completion and Delivery
A project is considered substantively complete when agreed deliverables have been supplied and included revisions have been used or the review period has expired under the project agreement. Final file format and delivery method will be determined by the nature of the work.
8. Client Approval
Before publication or external use, the client is responsible for final review of names, dates, quotations, factual claims, regulated statements, legal assertions, confidential information, and any other material that could create business or legal consequences.
9. No Performance Guarantee
Editorial services improve organization and presentation of information but do not guarantee commercial performance, publicity, publication acceptance, search ranking, funding, sales, or a particular audience response.
10. Professional Boundaries
Services do not constitute legal, tax, financial, medical, compliance, or public-relations advice. Clients should obtain appropriate specialist review where a project involves regulated or high-risk claims.
